Crayon Rocks
I just love these rock shaped crayons. They’re made of soy instead of wax (petroleum-based) and come in beautiful vivid colors. The shape of the rocks make it easier for young children to draw with, and it encourages the use of the tripod grip which helps develop fine motor skills. Just make sure your little one does’nt try to eat one. They do look like big jelly beans. A box of 16 crayons cost $7.49, and 64 crayons are $24.99. Hermes – Father & Son’s Ties
The coolest thing this spring, Hermes pure silk, hand folded neck ties, in matching print and material for both Father and Son. Hermes has a new Spring-Summer 2009 collection of heavy silk with “Lucky” emblems on them as well a really sweet looking rep tie, to keep your boy looking traditional chic, not traditional geek. Hermes ties are made of Silk, Heavy Silk, Silk Twill Rep Tie, Silk Linen Rep Tie and folded from one solid piece, then stitched. This is the true mark of a well made necktie. Time-Out iphone Application
I came across this iphone application during my weekly scan of new applications. This one maybe useful. Some children really respond to timers as if it’s the authority. Here’s how it works: you first have to do the initial set-up of your children’s names, up to four kids, and the time-out durations. Once that is set-up, you can start a time-out with a single click, and this can be done concurrently. You can shorten or add time as you see fit. Once the time-out is complete, an alarm sounds. Custom Paper Toys
Here is something you can do that is free. I came across this website created by Cartoonist and Illustrator Matt Hawkins. It’s called Custompapertoys.com. There you will find downloadable paper toys you can make with your kids. Just download the template, cut the pieces and glue together. These are really fun and creative.
